Mr. Hisashi Amano has been known as one of the most famous aquascape creators in the world because he established the nature aquarium to express beautiful scenery and fish habitat in an aquarium based on the concept of ecosystem.
And he set up a company, ADA for producing a lot of equipment for nature aquariums.
Now we can see ADA’s work at Gallery AMO in Tokyo City Dome.
This exhibition shows the full range of the creative activities of Amano and his five ADA’s aquascape creators, who are his beloved students.
The latest nature aquarium tank designed and created for this exhibition by ADA’s aquascape creators, and the giant “Nature Tower 360°”, which makes it look as if a tropical cloud forest is towering over the venue, are some of the impressive works on display.
The tower is planted many tropical foliage and mosses from well-known tropical forests, like Amazon, Borneo, or Africa.
It has eight faces expressing those tropical areas on each side with the plants and each water tank with the same area’s fish.
All the plants and fish are categorized in the tropical area, so they seem similar at a glance with their vivid color and their bending flexible shapes. However, the detail of each plant and fish has unique character.
Not only the central 360 towers but some separate water tanks with water plants and fishes, we can enjoy.
Each water tank has a theme reflecting the season or some areas.
All water tanks have clear water, fresh green plants, and lovely small fish, it is easy to observe the detail in the aquascape.
In this exhibition, we can also enjoy a brand new underwater movie with an immersive experience of the Sumida Aquarium’s “natural water landscape”.
And there are photographs of aquatic landscapes taken by Hisashi Amano. He was a well-known photographer and used large-format cameras.
His ecological landscape photographs on super-sized photo panels are beautiful and astonishing.
In addition, the top prize-winning entries of the World Aquatic Plants Layout Contest 2021, the world’s most prestigious aquatic plant layout contest, will be exhibited for the first time.
