Cherry Brossom in Tokyo

Now we can see some cherry flower has been already bloomed along the street.

Within 2 weeks, we can enjoy full blossoms.

Under the  request for self-restriction, we cannot expect any flower festival this year as same as the last one, however, the restriction is finished on March 22nd in Tokyo, and we can go out anywhere within Japan with no difficulties.

Along the Meguro River, Sumida River, or Yoyogi park, they are too crowded places before Corona-19. But now many people will avoid crowded places or times, so we can enjoy these places more comfortably than before.

I would like to recommend some not famous cherry blossom places.

1. Meguro Tenku Teien park and Opus Yume Hiroba.

The nearest station is Ikejiri-Ohashi on Denen Toshi line.

From the station walking 3mins, we can arrive this park. It is built on the Tokyo highway Ohashi junction, so the highest place of the park, we can see Mt. Fuji if we have luck.

There are 10 gardens with seasonal flowers and plants including cherry blossoms. Of course, it is available to do a picnic during lunchtime.

Don’t forget to wear a mask!

Address: 1-9-4 Ohashi Meguro-ku, Tokyo

Hour: 7am – 17pm.

2. Rokugo Ryokuchi bank cherry blossoms

Along the Tama River is a good area for running or cycling.

From Rokugo bridge to Rokugo Watergate, there are Cherry trees and many people enjoy promenading.

Walk 10mins. from Rokugo Dote station on Keikyu line and we can arrive at this area.

Address: Higashi Rokugo Otaku, Tokyo

3. Minamoto Park

It is a huge park along the Oba River and famous for bird watching.

Besides cherry blossoms watching, we can visit lotus ponds, metasequoia forests,  other flower gardens, and a vast green area ideal for a picnic. And there are some outdoor playsets and BBQ places. (BBQ place is closed now.)

The nearest station is Kanamachi on JR Jyoban line or Chiyoda line. And take a Keisei bus (for Togasaki soshajyo or Nishi Mizumoto Sanchome) from the station and get off at the “Mizumoto park” stop.

Address: 3-2 Mizumoto park Katsushikaku, Tokyo

4. Yomiuriland

Yomiuriland is an amusement park, so we have to pay for entering this place.

But we can enjoy various activities in the park.

Highly recommend is a roller coaster “Bandit” running through between the cherry trees. It means we can enjoy the cherries  in the fastest way!

If you prefer the slower way, there is another choice.

The Sky Shuttle is a cable car between the Yomiuri Land station to the park entrance and over the cherry trees. When you ride in the cable car, you can elegantly enjoy the flowers from the sky.

Of course, we take a traditional way, walking through the cherry trees inside the park.
